Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS)

The need for fast, accurate and reliable meteorological data at airports is well established. IES partners with top quality AWOS manufacturer Optical Scientific inc. (OSi) to provide varied configurations of AWOSs for the smallest to the largest airfields

Our offered AWOSs are a state-of-the-art, truly integrated aviation weather measurement systems designed to meet the stringent requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO). They have been installed all over the world and have been providing reliable, quality data in the most diverse environments including the harshest at both temperature extremes.

AWOS can comprise a gamut of meteorological sensors such as:

    □ Visibility (MOR, RVR)
    □ Present Weather (Precipitation Identification)
    □ Runway Surface Sensor
    □ Wind Speed
    □ Wind Direction
    □ Temperature
    □ Dew Point
    □ Relative Humidity
    □ Barometric Pressure (QNH, QFE),and others, if required.

Other synoptic sensors, such as solar radiation may also be added to the system if required.
